Director of Finance and Legal

Blue Tomato is European retailer with over EUR125M in revenue. The revenue is balanced between both online and offline (store) sales. The company operates physical retail in nine European markets with over 85 shops and a digital business across the world. Blue Tomato employs over 800 people across its organization.
The Director of Finance and Legal will report directly to the CEO and be part of a leadership team comprising six other Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Vision
Set an inspirational vision for the finance function, establishing clear objectives, KPIs, and milestones. Champion a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement. - Financial Performance & Profitability
Drive long-term profitability by cost controlling, improving operational efficiency, and collaborating across functions to increase revenue and enhance the customer experience. - Team Development & Organizational Design
Build and mentor a future-ready finance team by fostering a high-performance culture, developing leadership capabilities, and implementing best practices in financial planning and analytics. - Digital Transformation & Reporting Excellence
Lead the evolution of the finance function through automation and advanced analytics. Deliver actionable insights that empower decision-making and support long-term strategic objectives. - Risk Management & Compliance
Ensure compliance with local regulations, US-GAAP, SOX, and legal standards. Strengthen internal controls and governance frameworks to mitigate financial and operational risks. Lead legal assessment in collaboration with internal and external counsel. - Cross-Functional & International Collaboration
Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team, collaborating across departments to align financial strategy with business objectives and ESG commitments. Critically, this role requires close coordination and seamless collaboration with our US-based parent company to ensure alignment on financial reporting, compliance, and cross-border strategic initiatives.

They demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to inspire others toward measurable results. This role is instrumental in shaping a high-performing, digitally enabled finance organization that delivers strategic insights, drives profitability, and upholds strong governance.
- Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance executive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Inspirational leader with a passion for developing talent.
- Strong track record in finance transformation, digital enablement, and strategic planning.
- Strong expertise in US GAAP and local GAAPs, treasury, tax, SOX and other risk and control standards.
- Deep understanding of compliance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience working internationally.
- Fluent in German and English.
Your Compensation Package
The minimum salary according to the applicable collective agreement is EUR4.369,71 gross per month for full-time employment. The actual compensation will, of course, reflect your individual qualifications and relevant professional experience.
