We are looking for a seasoned Payments Rules Manager with deep expertise in the payments ecosystem to join our team. A Payments Rules Manager ensures the organization adheres to the rules and regulations of payment card schemes and other relevant payment networks.
In this role, you will shape and drive payment products and services that meet the payment rules and customer needs. You will work at the intersection of product, compliance, technology, and business development, ensuring that our payments solutions are competitive, compliant, and customer-centric.
Payment Rules Manager (m/f/d)
Position Responsibilities
- Lead the roadmap for payments rules and scheme-driven initiatives in collaboration with product, aligning compliance obligations with customer needs and strategic goals.
- Stay up to date with card scheme rules, mandates, and regulatory changes, translating them into actionable product and operational requirements.
- Create and update policies and procedures, design control systems, and establish monitoring frameworks to ensure adherence to regulations and standards.
- Participate in internal and external audits, collaborate in preparing evidence, to demonstrate compliance with scheme and regulatory requirements.
- Act as a project manager, taking full ownership of the payment rules in collaboration with compliance, ensuring they are implemented by the teams on time and with the desired quality.
- Continuously monitor for changes in relevant laws, regulations, scheme mandates and industry standards and assess their impact.
- Regularly communicate with key internal stakeholders to understand scheme requirements for new and existing products, services, and technical changes, and support their implementation.
- Engage directly with customers to understand their setup, business opportunities and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, compliance and customer facing teams to ensure seamless delivery of new features and solutions.
- Interpret and simplify complex regulatory/legal language and compliance frameworks into product requirements and team actions.
- Represent the product internally and externally, connecting dots across stakeholders, teams, and industry developments.
- Ensure that products are scalable, technically feasible, and aligned with the company's long-term strategy.
Position Requirements
- 5+ years of experience within payments, ideally gained in an acquiring business, FinTech, banking environment or PSP provider.
- Knowledge of PSD2, PCI DSS, 3DS, AML/CFT frameworks, or other payments regulations.
- Strong knowledge of the payments ecosystem, including acquirers, issuers, processors, schemes, and regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret scheme mandates, regulatory guidance, and compliance requirements.
- High-level technical literacy (APIs, integrations, architecture concepts) with the ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills - comfortable engaging with customers, regulators, auditors, and senior stakeholders.
- Independent, curious, and able to connect the dots across diverse inputs to form a clear strategy.
- Well-connected in the payments industry, with an ability to leverage external relationships for market insights and opportunities.

Salary
The actual minimum salary is 4,642 EUR gross per month (on a 38.5-hour basis), the actual salary depends on your qualifications and experience. The salary is paid 14 times per year. The collective agreement IT-KV ( EDV-KV ) applies.
